Game Review
In a tightly contested Bundesliga clash, 1899 Hoffenheim edged past Bayer 04 Leverkusen with a narrow 1-0 victory at home. The match was decided early on, with Wouter Burger (GAP +5.0%) scoring the only goal in the 9th minute. This result was somewhat unexpected given Leverkusen's strong form coming into the match, having been unbeaten in their last five games. The decisive moment came when Burger found the back of the net, capitalizing on a defensive lapse from Leverkusen. Despite Leverkusen's efforts to equalize, Hoffenheim's defense, marshaled by Oliver Baumann (GAP +0.3%), held firm throughout the match. Tactically, Hoffenheim's manager made no changes to the starting lineup compared to their previous outing, indicating a vote of confidence in his squad. On the other hand, Leverkusen's head coach opted for a fresh approach, making several substitutions during the game, including bringing on Jonas Hofmann and Nathan Tella, in an attempt to inject some creativity and pace into their attack. Key players for Hoffenheim included Vladimír Coufal (GAP +4.9%), who was instrumental in maintaining defensive solidity, and Andrej Kramarić (GAP +0.1%), who provided a constant threat in the attacking third. For Leverkusen, Alex Grimaldo (GAP +6.5%) was a standout performer, frequently pushing forward and creating opportunities from the left flank. The victory sees Hoffenheim gain crucial points as they look to climb the Bundesliga table, while Leverkusen will need to regroup quickly to maintain their position among the league's top contenders. This result highlights Hoffenheim's resilience and ability to secure points against higher-ranked opponents, potentially boosting their confidence for upcoming fixtures.

What is GAP?
What is Plus Minus Goals (G±)?
Plus Minus Goals (G±) is the average goal difference per game while the player was on the pitch. A value above 0 indicates that the team rather wins, a value below 0 means his team concedes more goals than they score when the player is on the pitch. As an example, if the player's team is winning 3:1 the goal difference is +2, if the player's team is loosing 0:1, the goal difference is -1. It is a pure metric which is barely adjusted for circumstances to purely show the goal difference.
What is GAP?
GAP (Game Advantage Percentage) shows the percentage gap between a player and the average league player. It answers the question: How much does a player improve or worsen a team's performance? It is based on high level game data with a focus on the impact on the goal difference (G±) from the last 50 games of a player. Besides that, GAP goes further and considers game context by involving data from the player and all other players who are at the same time on the pitch, no matter if teammates or opponents. Football GAP - the individual metric for team players.
